发展教育 (DE) courses are designed to provide students with basic skills to achieve success in college-level courses 和 to pass the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) 测试.
发展教育 (DE) includes courses in English as a Second Language, 发展 数学 和 Integrated Reading/Writing courses. The instructional 为mats of DE courses vary 和 include computer-based, lecture, online, express, weekend, self-paced, 以及非基于课程的格式.
科林大学 has implemented Co-requisite DE 课程 - a course 为mat which allows
you to enroll in credit Math, English 和 other credit courses immediately, when you
also enroll in a developmental support course.

Do DE credits apply to a degree?
Although students receive grades 为 DE courses, those DE courses do not apply toward 学位或证书. DE credits do not transfer to other institutions 和 DE grades are not calculated as part of the student's grade point average (GPA) shown on transcripts. However, DE grades are sometimes considered when applying 为 scholarships, financial 援助、退伍军人福利等.
DE coursework will help you acquire the skills 和 knowledge needed to be successful 在大学水平的课程中.

If a student's scores on the basic skills assessment indicate that a student would
be
better prepared by taking a DE course prior to enrolling in a college-level course
in
a related field, the student must enroll in the DE course 和 complete the sequence
be为e enrolling in college-level courses in that field of study.
Collin requires that students demonstrating a need 为 remediation in reading, writing
or mathematics complete the appropriate sequence of DE courses in consecutive semesters,
although the student is not required to attend 科林大学 during summer semesters.
For students who do not place at college-level courses in all three Texas Success
计划(TSI)
areas of reading, writing 和 mathematics, a meeting with an Academic Advisor is required
as well as m和atory course registration in 建造于1300年 Learning Frameworks.
What is EDUC/PSYC 1300 Learning Frameworks?
建造于1300年 Learning Frameworks is a college credit course that examines
learning based on research 和 the theory of learning psychology. 这门课是

enhance their study skills, 和 explore their own strengths 和 weaknesses as
learners in order to develop effective personal learning strategies to increase their
likely success in other college courses.

How many DE courses can a student take?
DE courses may be taken 为 a combined total of no more than 18 credit 小时
without incurring additional fees of $50 per credit hour. 这笔额外费用是
applied because the state of Texas will not pay a state subsidy 为 DE credit
小时 in excess of 18 credit 小时. *If ESL courses are taken, a total of 27 credit

are allowed without incurring additional fees.
In addition, students may attempt to successfully complete any DE course only twice
